Jacob's Join for Rev. Beverley Locke

The six churches of the Beacon Team, Kendal St George, Burneside, Skelsmergh, Grayrigg, Selside and Longsleddale, organised a Jacob's Join to mark the departure of Assistant Curate Reverend Beverley Lock at the Community Hall in Skelsmergh on Saturday August 16 2008. Reverend Canon Nigel Davies, Beacon Team Rector, welcomed Rev. Lock as she arrived at the hall and spoke of the excellent contribution that she has made since her ordination.

CTiK

"Churches Together in Kendal!" has been in existence for some time trying to bring Christians from the various churches together for joint worship, witness and action when and where this is thought to be appropriate.

Worship at Carlisle

The Dean of Carlisle Cathedral has invited the Beacon Team to the Communion Service at 10.30am on Sunday 30th March. This provides us with a wonderful opportunity to be together on a 5th Sunday in a very special way. We will be travelling up to Carlisle by coach and after the service we will be lunching together at Tullie House. After lunch there will be an opportunity to spend some time in Carlisle or attend the Cathedral Evensong at 3.00pm before travelling home again.

Rural Churches offered ideas for children's work

Nearly one in five of the rural population are children - and a new book from the Church of England shows how to involve them in the life of the Church. It brings together advice on two specialist areas of Christian ministry: working with children, and working in rural areas.

Report on the Beacon Group Away Day

After days of torrential rain the morning of the Away Day could have been equally wet. However it was fair and there were even some lovely bright periods and the resulting photographs were really striking. They captured the trees just starting to turn, the bright sparkle of the waterfall tumbling down the side of the House, the fantastic formal gardens being so carefully renovated. The peace and the quiet which can’t be captured even in digital images but was there to be enjoyed.
