Known as 'The Gateway to the Lakes', the historic market town of Kendal has a long history as a trading centre for the woollen, leather and shoe manufacturing industries and, of course, not forgetting the famous Kendal Mintcake.

It is just 15 minutes drive from junction 36 of the M6. Oxenholme (5 minutes by taxi) is the nearest railway station on the West Coast main line between London Euston and Glasgow. There are regular bus services to Kendal bus station.

The River Kent meanders through this picturesque town which is overlooked by Kendal Castle, birthplace of Katherine Parr, last wife of Henry VIII.

The Church is situated to the east of the River Kent near to Stramongate Bridge and is built on an area of land known as Gooseholme.
