Centennial Celebration October 31 to November 2 1971
It was decided to mark the 100 years since the church was opened in a significant way with a visible addition to the church. A licence was granted by the Diocese of Carlisle for an illuminated cross to be mounted on the western face of the bell turret and to further mark the event the church was floodlit for two weeks.
Parish Communion was led by the Bishop of Carlisle at 10 00 am, using the 1662 form of service, and it was attended by 64 people. At 3 pm in the afternoon an event “For the younger generation” had been arranged for the children. Evensong took place at 6 30 pm with the Vicar of Kendal giving the address.
A party for 100 people took place in the Parish Hall after Evensong
